Common questions about LGBTQ+ therapy

  • There can be a lot of diferences between the two. There are a lot of therapists who identify as allies or supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Which is great! But a general therapist who is an ally but does not have additional training or experience in LGBTQ+ related topics may not understand how sexuality identity influences a person’s day to day.

A therapist with LGBTQ+ focused training and experience will have better understanding of how your anxiety/depression/etc. can be impacted or even caused by discrimination or marginalization you may experience due to your sexual orientation. You also deserve a provider who gets it, one you don’t have to explain what it’s like to be queer to all the time.

  • Yes! I’m so glad you asked. As a fellow LGBTQ+ member, I know what it’s like to navigate the world as a queer person myself. I actually started my clinical practice in response to seeing how few safe and trained mental health providers there are in the community for LGBTQ+ people. I believe everyone deserves access to safe, supportive, and quality mental health services.

  • Yes, yes, and yes! I have experience working with a wide range of identities under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. You can feel safe knowing you’ll be understood and accepted.

  • If you would like to work together, simply email, call, or text me and we can get something set up. Once you reach out, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
